No Spark

A posting of four junction boxes in an underground car park indicates a certain desperation on the blip front.

There are still so many things needing to be done in order to resume our post cruise state, that blipping was foot of the list today...... well OK, the very foot of the list is a mountain of ironing, which is taunting me as I write.

The good thing though was the visit at lunch time from my oldest school friend, up from London to hold the fort for her soon-to-be 104 year old mother while the home care workers are on holiday.
If you have to live to such a ripe old age, it is definitely better to be like this grand old lady who is as sharp as a tack and still able to live on her own with some help on the meal preparation front.

She is an amazing person and looks little different to how she looked 60 years ago.
She is now the oldest living graduate of Edinburgh Art College and only stopped glass engraving with a lathe about 10 years ago.

And so my friend and I had lunch and a chat, amongst other things remembering our teenage hostelling days when we cycled round the hostels in Perthshire and how, now, we can't quite place the old Strathtummel SYHA which was on the road to the Queen's View in Pitlochry. It still is, although it's now a private house and is hidden now by trees and quite unfindable. Garth Youth Hostel further on is now also a private house, as is the old Barns Youth Hostel just outside Peebles.

By the time she left, the light was fading and it was getting cold with the threat of more snow in the offing.

Long live my Yaktrax!
