The Ones Left Over

Such self control to abstain from eating every chocolate that was placed on my pillow each night of the cruise. There are eleven left which means that I devoured the same number in the 22 nights I was on board ship.

But such treats are in the past. It's back to real life and stringent eating habits.

Back to real life indeed and the Christmas cards and unopened parcels were meeting us at the door when we returned, although Cairo boy had left the flat in sparkling condition. He will be allowed to return.

We put all the mail in a huge pile and I dealt with it this morning, leaving a mayhem of empty envelopes and wrapping paper together with catalogues and cardboard boxes.

The washing is being done by bag load - 1 down and 2 to go with the two to go lying in the hall looking somewhat less than welcoming.

It was all to be so different we decided before we reached home.

We were going to let things be, at least last night, while we relaxed with a glass of wine. But before I had even taken off my coat, his Lordship was emptying his cases of dirty clothes and generally unpacking.
By the time the glass of wine was offered it was almost midnight and I was past the bonhomie stage........ so his Lordship had two glasses and probably lived to regret it being repaid with a restless night, not that he would admit anything....... ever.

So we're beginning to see the light and the G&T sits beside my elbow as I type.
A cycling friend has just popped for a blether, so my everyday life is already taking shape. It's good to be back....... I think.
