Castle Silhouette
Despite the day being quite sunny, I caught the castle silhouetted against a passing bank of dark cloud.
We were in town to have a coffee with a cycling buddy and his lovely 11 year old granddaughter. What a joy to be in the company of a child who is both clever and confident and able to join in the conversation with 3 wrinklies without being overbearing and self centred. A granddaughter to be proud of.
When we got home we discovered the orange coated men with crampons and ear protectors noisily taking the broken limb off a large tree on the other side of the railings from us, which had succumbed in Tuesday's gale. They've left behind a very odd unsymmetrical looking tree.
There is no word yet about when our tree is going to be dismantled; it poses no threat to passers by, principally because it doesn't allow any passers by.
We've missed seeing the Great Edinburgh Cross Country race in Holyrood Park today, but we've taped it on the television so that we can enjoy it later.
The competitors had an ideal racing day for it, unlike some years.
