Another Day in the Life of a Lady

I went up market this morning: I became a Morningside lady who shops at Waitrose. I had no particular reason other than I could walk from there to the Costa Café at Holy Corner and sit with my Metro paper from the bus and read and people watch. Holy Corner is so named because it once had a functioning Church at each corner. I think there are just two used as churches now.
My Waitrose experience was fairly costly as I made the mistake of buying amongst other things a Charlie Bigham curry -gastronomic but pricey.  However sometimes retail therapy even the culinary sort  is the way to go when the weather is cold and dire. Snow? Who mentioned snow?

There was much activity and noise in Quartermile this morning when a ginormous yellow crane arrived to hoist air conditioners in the roof the building that used to house my lawyers. I have put a sequence of crane moves into my extra. As I pondered how the crane operator got to his cab up top in the clouds, I saw him strap himself into a tiny box that acted as a lift to get himself up. Some passing workman told me that the mobile crane cost a million pounds to buy and he wondered what it would cost the renovators to hire it for the day. It puts the price of my curry into perspective.
