Diary of an Edinburgher

East Neuk Day One

JR did not go to the gym this morning, but she did pop into town on a mission. Just as well we didn’t have very far to go to get to our destination - East Neuk. And the BIG NEWS is… Archie was NOT sick!!! Amazing. Mind you, we stopped and gave him several wee walks (literally). Including a stroll round Auchtermuchty. I like to get JR to try and pronounce that one.

The haar was hanging around in Edinburgh, but had cleared by the time we left, mid morning. But there it was again as we crossed the bridge - so it was all along the coast. We were inland via Cupar (and Auchtermuchty) in sunshine, but when we reached the coast again - there it was - FOG!

Elie Beach was fabulous, as ever, very busy with swimmers, paddlers, kayakers. It was hot, even with the low hanging haar. The outside pub was doing great business, but we just had a drink inside.

Fife cross country roads are through lovely countryside, all the hay bales ready to gather in, but they’re very winding, never ending and you seem to go round in circles (I kept seeing signs for the Peat Inn) but Archie wasn’t sick, though he looked miserable (but that’s his default look).

Our abode for a few days is right on the harbour. Very cute, with steep(ish) stairs to the lounge and bedroom. We’ve been out for an evening stroll, and I’m girding my loins for a coastal walk tomorrow.
