I was born and spent my childhood and teenage years in Greenock on the banks of the River Clyde in west Scotland. In my early 20s I headed south to work in London and never went back except to visit.
I live in Bedfordshire with my wife and two children and have tried to give up the rat race but keep being dragged back to the London commute.
I have enjoyed photography for as long as I remember and love leafing through old family photos. I got an old Brownie camera from an aunt when I was about 10 years old and decided there and then that this would be one of my hobbies.
My next camera was a Kodak Instamatic type thing and around the age of 16, my dad passed on his Mamiya SLR camera when he bought a Pentax with a fancy new autofocus feature. The quality produced by an SLR compared to the instant camera just blew me away. I was hooked and for my 21st birthday, my parents bought me a Canon A1. I still have that camera to this day as it is my pride and joy and was used regularly until I made the decision to delve into the world of digital photography.
My first digital camera was a Canon PowerShot G2, and when I started submitting to this site it was this camera that I had been using for most of my blips. I also have a Canon 400D SLR which I bought to rekindle my enthusiasm for quality/creative photography. I have recently upgraded that to a Canon 70D, which is an awesome camera. I also use a Canon Powershot SX260HS and you can see the pattern here; I am firmly a Canon kinda guy. Not knocking rival camera manufacturers but I have always liked Canon so have stuck with them through my photography life.
