Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Another cute wee girlfriend for Archie!

Back to normal today - taking Archie out for a walk. We combined a bus ride with a long walk through the whole Meadows. He loves buses - hops on eagerly - motion sickness on buses doesn't seem to afflict him, because he's been sick on shorter journeys in the car.

We walked the length of the Meadows - quite far - and he was off the lead and running round having fun the whole way. I kept looking for a bench seat to have a sit in the sun and read the Metro - there are dozens of 'em, and every single one occupied with people enjoying the warm day. We didn't meet any other dogs till the last bit, when we met Taylor and her owner. We've met them before - Taylor is a wee livewire who runs at full tilt, leaving Archie miles behind. But she only runs in big circles, and ends the run by crashing into any handy human legs. I think she's going so fast she can't change direction.

Her owner told me she was six months, and just been spayed last week. Certainly hasn't slowed her down any!

When a horde of large yelly schoolchildren came to take over our bit, we departed. I sat down on the grass on the putting green for a while. Archie came and sat right beside me and just watched the comings and goings, including a squalling baby. He was tired. We both were.

We dandered up the road at a very slow pace - Archie having a good sniff at everything, and even lifting his leg a couple of times, doing teensy wee piddles hardly worth mentioning, but he seemed happy to be doing what grown up dogs do.

I guess we'll both have a snooze this afternoon, and one of us will definitely have an Almond Magnum.
