Today was a first trip on narrowboat Marjorie for George and his sister Jessica.

In the blipped photograph please note Jessica helping her Mum, Abi, back to the boat after supervising the working of the locks. Please also note the reflections of Jessica's lifejacket and Abi's pink shoes in the immaculately polished side of Marjorie.

Our departure on the voyage was delayed by about 30 minutes, as Abi relied on something known as "Sat Nav" to find her way to our meeting point. Younger people than I may know what this strange device is but I simply don't hold with it. Or, for that matter, Twitter. Call me old-fashioned, if you will.
