The Hermitage of Braid
It turned out to be a day of walking in snow and doing a lot of blipping.
I started quite early with a walk through the Meadows which always look their best covered in snow with a pretty sky.
Then it was back to the castle and the duster in readiness for some visitors later in the week. I admit to doing this lest the said visitors discover that I'm a slut at heart and can cheerfully live in a dusty midden for a long time before I get the urge to wield the furniture polish and the yellow duster.
Then it was off with my sandwiches and flask of tea to join fellow cyclists off road as it were (brings a new dimension to the phrase) in someone's house in Morningside for a get together. I walked there via Blackford Pond with a diversion up a lonely snowy path, meeting only 2 dog walkers and braving a heavy hail shower, and after the lunch I walked home by the Hermitage of Braid to Liberton Dams.
This must be one of the prettiest walks in South Edinburgh. The snow was still thick and fresh, and the Braid Burn cut a dark swathe through the whiteness. Absolutely beautiful!
It was hard to chose todays blip as I got so many photos, but I've plumped for the blip of the small weir on the Braid Burn towards the Morninside end of the walk.
EDIT: the weir is a bit more visible in BIG
