Tree Shadow
I blipped this at a very unhealthy hour before sane men and women have clambered out of bed. I decided to honour my New Year resolution and visit the gym. I begged his Lordship to be allowed to accompany him in case I needed a helping hand on any icy paths (there were none), but I didn't know that then. I say begged as his Lordship is a solitary creature who prefers to do things on his own and in his own time. He agreed, a tad grudgingly I thought, but I had to be prepared to get up ridiculously early. I'm more than eager to rise early in the height of summer when it gets light at 3:30am but there is a bit of the hen about me such that I have a problem rising 2 1/2 hours before the sun rises in darkest winter. It is totally unnatural.
It is quite demoralising when at the gym to do about 30 - 40 mins aerobic exercise and discover that the calories you have used are sufficient for you to consume a 2 finger Kit Kat bar with maybe enough left over for a water biscuit. Makes you wonder if it's all worth it.
We took down our Christmas Tree this morning. The tree will be planted in the castle garden once the ground has thawed out while our tree fairy has earned a year's hibernation in the box of baubles.
I shall miss our little tree standing in the corner, a little lopsided, but pretty in its finery and coloured lights. I have reinstated the rather dismal large green plant to its place again. If plants have feelings, then it should be pleased to be back in situ amongst us once more.
