Variations on a theme

of Crocus sieberi.

I grow a number of different forms of each subspecies of Crocus sieberi. These are the offspring from Crocus sieberi ssp sieberi which has it's home in the mountains of Crete where the while flowers, variously marked with purple, appear soon after the snow melts in Spring. However in this case the seed parent appears to have crossed with some of it's relatives from mainland Greece which are lilac purple in colour. An interesting mixture ..... all beautiful :-)
