Britain's industrial heritage

Exterior of old railway workshops in Kiddermister, Worcestershire, UK. In addition to the modern railway line which runs through Kidderminster en-route Worcester - Birmingham and beyond, the town is also a terminal for the Severn Valley Railway (SVR), which runs steam train services, mainly for tourists, between there and Bridgnorth (Shropshire), further north along the river Severn. The SVR track is one of the many lines closed following the 1966 "Beeching axe", which rang the death knell for many of Britain's rural railway lines.
