and so we begin anew

... apparently. I think I prefer "So we beat on" (from F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby).

It mostly just felt like a gloomy Wednesday all day to me. Until the evening, that is, when we had a roast dinner and a couple of gazzillion drinks with our guests.

We also played the name on a forehead/post it on a forehead/sticky forehead/ who am I? game. The teens and their eldest cousin joined in too and we had a right old laugh.

I'm always a total grumpy skeptic about New Year's Day. It's just a made up thing. The real beginning of a new year happens when nature tells us. I do it by feel. Right now I'm feeling the cold, dark, short thing of deep winter.
So there.

(I'm not complaining about an excuse to have company, nice food and a drink with family though :o) )
