Life in Sunny Dubai

WELL! I think I have cracked it with the cold of the office. For those who asked, I don’t know the exact temperature as the Maintenance Man never brings a thermometer with him when he comes to check the vents, but on Tuesday, he did discover that right above me is a faulty controller which needs to be replaced except they don’t have the part. Also, a/c cooling feels completely different to natural temperatures so a thermostat set to 23degC feels MUCH cooler than natural 23degC. Don’t ask please; I would put it down to an actual draught blowing in the room whereas that doesn't happen with heating.

Anyway; Thursday's are dress down day, and I took in a hoodie that was given to me a few Christmases ago – something else I’ve never worn. I'm not even sure what made me take it today – I wanted a change. I have never been so comfortable and warm since the day I started work! I had to be sure it was the hoodie and not the aircon being fixed, but was assured by Louise nothing had changed with the inside temperature. I AM THRILLED! G was given a white one exactly like it so I am going to hi-jack hers.

We had a remarkably clear day today. This is the view I can see from my desk. Go large to see the airport control tower, Terminal 3, the Clubhouse of the Creek Golf Club (sail shaped building). Lots more in there but the most obvious things have to be the two large areas of green - which is Zabeel Park that spreads out – even across the highway! (This is the park where the Pink Walkathon was held). The shadow is the building I’m in! Sorry! Need to take this shot in the morning - but then I wouldn't get the deep rich colours of late afternoon.

PS. Meant to say - the trees in this picture make you totally forget that we actually do live in a desert. Actually, lots of things about Dubai make you forget where you really are.
