PO Success! Big phone bills.
I decided to face my demons ring the Post Office this morning instead of going to look at robins. Good move. Took about an hour, but by 11am I was sorted. The PO are fully aware of my need of re-directing mail and have kindly agreed to do it.
It was not easy. It was fraught. I even accosted the postman after a few more automated phone calls, and just about wept on his shoulder. He agreed it was a strange situation, he didn’t have paper statements either, and gave me a number to ring… same automated gremlins. Are there any real people working there?
Eventually Natalie, for it was she, said she could do it over the phone, but she could only do it for one person. JR had to do a separate application. What a hoo-ha! And really, did I need it? So that pesky time share and clothing companies can still send me unwanted brochures?
We both did a lot of packing. Well, JR is of the school that sifts and sorts before packing, discarding unwanted stuff. I’m of the pack it all - sort later school. There were constant whoops of delight and cries of surprise from JR as things long lost were found, eg a small tapestry that JR started in 1999 and has been ‘lost’ for many years. The inference being that I had chucked it out, possibly accidentally. I feel vindicated.
The day turned out to be lovely, so in the afternoon I took a break from packing and went out for a whizz round the park, perchance to get a blip. Lots going on at the duck pond. But I went up to Dunsapie Loch, and was very sad to see only ONE cygnet left. A man who was sitting on a bench having a cuppa told me the cluprit had been a fox, and he’d seen it several times. They had started with eight cygnets. And I saw four cygnets there only a couple of weeks ago.
The cygnet and the mum (or dad) came on to the grass to preen. So I have many shots of headless swans. They didn’t mind me standing there too, though I wasn’t preening. I was bent double (can't risk going down on my knees and getting stuck...) waiting for the wing flapping bit. They made constant little chirping noises to each other.
So a successful day - my junk mail will be re-directed to my new address. Now I just need to change my passport and driving licence and inform the council. Let’s hope it’s straightforward...
