Diary of an Edinburgher

COME!

Craig the Path Man came round at midnight last night, apparently, to check on the path because of the heavy evening rain. He fiddled around very quietly (making sure no water could get in) so as not to alarm us. What a man!

The weather was kind today - the tiles have been grouted and sealed and will have time to dry. And then all the elaborate coverings can come off and we can see it in all its glory. That will be the blip for the day for sure!

Another thing that I love Craig for - he's the only tradesman I've had doings with who doesn't seem to need a local radio blasting out. But this afternoon, as he seals the path, there is one on. That I can forgive him for!

JR and Archie were to meet an ex-colleague for a school gossipy lunch in Bruntsfield, but the colleague texted that she couldn't make it, and so I was invited instead! Bonus.

Plenty of room in a dog-friendly seat by the window, Archie lay down and just waited patiently. Two mains for £10 - not bad at all.

On the way there we tired him out by doing the 'COME!' game - him running miles between us. He knows the routine, and starts running back as soon as he has his treat at one end. He really belts along at full tilt, tongue and ears a-flappin'.

JR went shopping in Bruntsfield after lunch, and has returned triumphant - with a pair of jeans that fit me! They come up to my waist, are stretchy, and don't cost the earth! And none of those 'stone washed' things that should not be seen in anyone over 20. Thank you for all your suggestions on jeans the other day, but I've found the ideal ones - Olsen.

Sorry it's another one of him running, but this time without mud. You can see JR away in the distance. We all like this game.
