Firehouse Friend

Rob and I stopped by the Bloomington Fire Station today to ask if we could have a t-shirt or uniform patch that I could take back to a firefighter friend in Bellingham. We met a very friendly member of the department who made his entrance down the fire pole to greet us. I wasn’t expecting that so I didn’t have the camera ready. Darn! He was nice enough that I bet he would have done it again if we’d asked him but we didn’t so I got this picture of the “mascot” in front of the station instead.

Keeping with the food theme of the past couple of weeks, I will admit to having a blip-worthy lunch today at Finch’s Brasserie – a Pizzetta with sausage, apples, caramelized onions, sage and mozzarella cheese. Probably one of the best pizzas ever, and made in a wood fired brick oven. Really now, If you ever get to Bloomington, try one.

Fair warning, tomorrow will be a food blip, and my last before getting home, unless I blip a plate of carrot sticks when I arrive which may be the only food on my menu for a while. We’re going to my favorite restaurant “Feast” on the way to the airport and I can’t think of a more fitting way to end my trip than with one of their breakfast creations. Stand by.

My two-week vacation is almost over and it seems as though it just started. My how time flies when you’re having fun!
