Life in Sunny Dubai

Old Friends

(27/8/25)

I’m glad we didn’t stay out any later than we did last night. I’m beginning to feel how much I need to stop! But not just yet. Today, we left early to do a food shop for the weekend, as we have visitors coming to the Lodge. We chose M&S Food and they didn’t let us down with choice or quality.
John & Marilyn arrived just before 1 PM with their two King Charles spaniels, Jeeves and Wooster! We haven’t seen them since 2016 or 2017, so we had lots to catch up with them! They took us out for a pub lunch (my extra). We opted for the Red Lion in Shamley Green, another gastro pub that serves delicious food.
It was a lovely, unhurried visit, so we showed them our one-thousand-year-old “historic” church in Albury Park. I could easily take a hundred pictures here. It is gorgeous, and so cold. I wish I’d remembered it when we had our heatwaves.
Back at the lodge, we put on the DVD of Paddington 2 as J&M hadn’t seen it. They loved it! It was sad to say goodbye when the time came. We’ve promised not to leave it so long and see them, either here again, or in Dubai.
