Nicky and her Nikon

Admiring the view

Last night it rained all night, and this morning we abandoned the idea of going on a run as it was still raining and about 8C. The forecast for the next week is not good with rain every day and cool temperatures. Usually when bad weather settles in here we drive down to Ticino for a few days but as Tommy is coming this weekend we decided not to do that.

After breakfast we set off on a walk up the Monbiel valley. It had stopped raining but according to the weather forecast it was meant to rain all day so we had rain jackets packed. It soon got sunny and bright and we got very warm - we walked all the way to Alp Garfuin, a little mountain restaurant up the valley, where we had lunch,  curry lentil soup for me and a burger for Gavin, before walking back again, a distance of about 15 km.

It was so warm walking back that I felt I had over dressed in long hiking trousers. You really cannot rely on the weather forecast here! I had taken my tripod and filters with me as I wanted to take some long exposure images of the river, but in the end I decided to rather blip this image of Gavin and Xena. One of the river images is in the extras.

I am reading such a great book at the moment, The River is Waiting and it's by one of my favourite authors Wally Lamb. He writes about quite hard hitting emotional topics and writes about them very well.

Tommy is on his way here at the moment, we are looking forward to him joining us this weekend. And yes, cold weather and rain is forecast all weekend, but we will see what tomorrow brings.
