A bad weather day
It rained last night and today it has rained non-stop all day! The clouds were so low when we woke up that you could not see beyond a few metres. When the boys were little and we came here in the summer we often got days like this, but in the last few years we have been lucky and never had rain that literally lasts all day. Xena hates walking in the rain so it was very much an indoor day today with only short walks for her.
Today was the annual X trail marathon races, there are four different races varying in distance from 10km to 68km and the longer ones are brutal as you run up the mountain and down the other side into Davos. Gavin did the 23km race about 10 years ago and said it was far more challenging than any full marathon he has ever done - the altitude and running up a steep mountain are very difficult. Today those poor runners also had the constant rain to contend with, it would have been slippery and muddy so not great conditions for them. I watched some of them from our sitting room window as they run right past our place, and I felt so sorry for them.
We all caught up on admin today, we go sailing at the end of August and Gavin had all sorts of forms to complete for that trip.
Yesterday when we were out walking a local woman came up to me to say hello as she recognised Xena and me from my Instagram account. She was the owner of the local cafe Kaffee Klatsch and she thanked me for all the postings I do of the village and her cafe, as she says it helps to promote them.
We are about to go to the opening evening of the annual music festival. Tonight's program is the Munich Chamber Orchestra with a soprano, alto, tenor and baritone and a Zurich choir performing Beethoven's Overture from Coriolanus, Mozart's Symphony in G minor and Haydn's Nelson mass. We are all looking forward to it.
Fingers crossed we have better weather tomorrow and can get out for a decent walk.
