Pictish Castle Interior
A beautiful sunny morning in Scalloway, misty on the east coast. It didn't take long to burn off, and a beautiful warm and sunny day all over. 21⁰c highs.
A fine lazy Sunday morning, washing out after breakfast. Walkies with Sammy to Madeline's, bumped into friend Julie. Nipped down to mam's, we all headed out for the day. Met peerie Brian in Lerwick for a meal. Working in the shop this evening, quieter than usual, not what I was expecting. Feet up before bed.
A Christie day out to Mousa, with family friend, Dave Ramsey. His first time on the isle, he wanted to explore on behalf of Adam Christie, my great grand uncle. The broch is always the highlight of the island, it really is an impressive structure. Standing 13m and over 2,000 years old. From the inside is best, where you can see the slats put in place to take the weight off, so the building doesn't collapse on itself. When going up the stairs to the top, or in the hidden tunnels, you can look out from the holes, give a wave to those below. We were always taught it was a Pictish Castle, but built before the Picts, in the Iron Age. Another fantastic trip over with the Mousa Boat, with some extra stories and guides. Looking up inside Mousa Broch, Mousa.
Extra is me, Laura, Dave, Mam, Lena and Dad, inside the Pictish Castle.
