Droplets of Hope

This morning, my friend B and I went for our walk, delighted that it wasn’t so hot anymore. The recent heatwave has parched the ground, and the walk was a dusty one - until we made our way back home, when it started to drizzle. We didn’t have jackets, but didn’t mind getting a little wet.

I had hoped for a bit more rain, though, since the forecast had been for “heavy showers “. But it just drizzled on for another half hour or so, and again for a short while in the afternoon. The droplets evaporated as soon as they hit the ground, so there wasn’t even half a millimetre in our rain gauge. At least the temperature dropped to a very pleasant 20°C.

The blip is a neighbour’s hibiscus, after the first rain.
