Let the fun begin…
As I was getting dressed this morning a song came on the radio that stopped me in my tracks, brought memories flooding back so strongly I felt myself slip back in time. The song was the Nolan’s I’m in the Mood for Dancing and I had to stop what I was doing and text my best pal Agnes. Our conversation went like this…
Me - I’m in the mood for dancing just came on the radio. Unexpected, and now I’m with you and we’re 13 again :-))
Agnes - Hahahahaha…Sunday night youth club disco dancing beside the pillar!
Me - the pillar with condensation running down it!!
Agnes - yuk! Yes!
Me - and snogging buck toothed boys!
Agnes - who chewed Wrigley’s spearmint gum! Then chips on the way home:-))
Me - happy days :-))
Agnes - Aye :-)
So special to have been best friends for fifty years and still be able to share those memories :-)
Having packed over the weekend we only had the last minute stuff to do. Went to the golf club for lunch then headed off at 2.30pm.
Great journey south with the weather improving the further south we went. Arrived just after 5pm and were shown to our wonderful accessible room. Champagne on ice and delicious chocolate truffles waiting for us. Quickly got unpacked and settled down to enjoy those.
Dinner was booked for 7.30pm and we were greeted at the restaurant by very friendly and efficient staff who served up an outstanding three course dinner. Absolutely delicious.
A wander in the grounds afterwards was so lovely, especially as we shared it with a little wild bunny who was completely unfazed by our presence in the garden. Just looked at us as we got within two feet of her then continued to nibble the grass.
This is such a lovely place. Grand but in a country house way that feels like a welcoming home. Posh but not stuck up. A perfect combination.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the week :-)
