Man On The Moon

A couple of months ago I blipped the watch I wanted to trade for a different make and model. The jeweller no longer did part exchange but he pointed me in the direction of a company who specialised in that sort of thing. Excellent service from said company and my watch was sold at a fair price.
With the funds burning a hole in my pocket, I was delighted to see the same company was offering this watch for sale. The same make and model I’d asked my jeweller about, but with a lot more “case candy” - colour booklets, different straps, special box, etc. I’m a sucker for that kind of thing so asked for a viewing. It’s five years old but in mint condition. It was also a fair bit cheaper than a new one, so I didn’t need much persuading to do the deal. I apologised to my jeweller that I wouldn’t be dealing with him, but he’s also into his watches and said he’d have done the same, so no hard feelings!
For those not as geeky as me, the Omega Speedmaster was the only watch qualified by NASA for space flight and was the first watch worn on the moon. It’s a lovely piece and I’m looking forward to wearing it.
And one of the extra straps they give you is a Velcro one, as used by astronauts. So if Elon ever offers me a ride on one of his rockets, I’ll be ready…
