The Ballad Of Bonnie And Clyde

I had chosen the title for today’s blip a few weeks ago. I was going to write all about the new Bonnie and Clyde musical we would have just seen at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford.
Unfortunately, the U.K. tour was cancelled at very short notice at the end of May due to “poor ticket sales making it not financially viable to keep going”. Very disappointing, but we had paid for the hotel in advance, so decided to head here anyway. And I couldn’t think of a different title for the blip.
Tomorrow we’re heading to Halifax, where we are meeting up with friends we’ve not seen for several years. Then, in the evening we are going to see Sheryl Crow in concert at The Piece Hall. Fingers crossed the weather is not as bad as forecast, as the concert is outside.
But tonight, we have just been out for a bite to eat before going back to the hotel for an evening of watching the telly. I snapped this shot of Bradford City Hall and nearby fountains as we walked back from the pub. With a splendid Venetian style frontage, and a clock tower modelled on one in Florence, I’m guessing there was a lot of money around in Victorian Bradford. Little wonder it used to be known as “Woolopolis” and was one of the boom towns of the Industrial Revolution.
A lot of that Victorian splendour is somewhat faded these days, but there were a few signs of regeneration in the city centre so maybe it’s not all bad.
