Exploring

Eight hours after Ruth popped her in the crate that will be her home for a while, Bryony started exploring the space.   She's been at the cat rescue for almost a year after arriving as a very weak and scared stray with three kittens.  Too timid to rehome, she hides away a lot of the time and resists contact unless wrapped in a blanket.   Mostly Ruth has left her alone, in the crate which is covered in blankets in the 'craft room' which is really just a large repository for assorted stuff at present.   It's a slight cheat blip as these pics are screenshots from a video Ruth sent me, taken on her cat-cam in the dark room.   It's a start.   The aim is to help her gain enough confidence with people to allow her to be re-homed.   No expectation at all that this will happen quickly so she's a long term foster for now.

Our day started with picking Bryony up.  Almost as soon as she was in, an architect turned up to measure up prior to drawing the plans for the work to adapt Ruth's bathroom.   It's a very tight space for what is required, we await the results a little nervously.

A late lunch and then we set to work to compress Ruth's old double mattress so that it might fit in my car and be taken to Jamie who urgently needs a new one.   A memory foam hybrid, it was possible to shrink it enough using a vacuum bag.  Enough that I could actually fit almost everything of mine into the car too.   Four boxes of pottery - one now containing only the pieces I have made whilst away - assorted bags of travel things including equipment needed for the talks, some shopping ..... and a large Magnolia stellata on sale so cheaply that it would have been madness not to buy it!

Mattress mission accomplished, I hit the road at 5pm, braving the rush hour traffic.   Home before nine after a stop in Welshpool, Jamie's new support worker CP was on hand to help unload and then to reload with the mattresses Jamie no longer needs, his old one and the one he's been borrowing from me.

A slightly crazy sort of day!   Lovely to see Bryony beginning to explore.  Happy to be home for the rest of the month.
