Blessings

Hubby was up before the neighbor’s rooster. The rest of us had a sleep in. The rain was very heavy all night and early morning. We had a bit of ice early evening and some thunder mixed in. We don’t have access to the Internet; I haven’t heard how bad the forecasted ice storm in the northern section of our country was. We got very little. Needless to say, we stayed inside by the fireplace almost all day. Hubby took a short walk to meet his step goals. Later my sister and BIL went out to search for a blip. This fireplace adequately describes my day. It is thermostatically controlled but the one in the rec room is manual. We turn it off and on depending on how warm it gets. It is the only heat source in this level of the house. The whole house is well insulated and requires very little heat. We have leftovers so there was no cooking required. My sister worked on beading, our BIL took down most of the Christmas decorations, hubby read and worked crossword puzzles and I snuggled with Sugar. I have almost finished the book I started yesterday. With such limited phone access, we actually chatted with each other for hours these last two days. It has been refreshing. It gives us time to reflect on our blessings. We are beyond fortunate to be comfortable in our advanced years. It hasn’t always been the case for us so we can appreciate our current life so much more. Up here we are basically cut off from the outside more often than not. And that can be a blessing also. I am hoping I can find a spot someplace in the house with enough signal to publish my blip. I had to freeze on the back porch to find my quote. Wishing you a warm home, lovely dinner and ample friends. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “The most significant gifts are the ones most easily overlooked. Small, everyday blessings: woods, health, music, laughter, memories, books, family, friends, second chances, warm fireplaces, and all the footprints scattered throughout our days.” - Sue Monk Kidd
