Tarjeta Dorada

I had intended to walk everywhere but realised yesterday that time is running away so I opted for a Hola Barcelona travel card, and made good use of it today.
I started with the Sagrada Familia and with no time limit on the ticket I was able to spend a couple of hours there which coincided with the Angelus. I returned this evening to see the basilica lit up. Incredibly beautiful at any time.
Afterwards I walked along the Avinguda de Gaudi to the Hospital de Sant Pau.
Then a rather lengthy wait at the railway station to buy my Targeta Dorada which for €6 gives anyone over 60 a 30% - 40% discount on all rail fares for a year. The charming Renfe chap then helped me get the best value ticket to Madrid. The conversation was mostly in English since I didn’t want jeopardise such an important transaction. I did manage to give my mobile number in Spanish.
Fortified by aubergines in honey and the obligatory €2 vino blanco i explored the waterfront area and Selva de Mer beach and returned to the Basilica.
