Wrapping Arms ‘Round Many (WARM)
This shot was taken at Camp Maria Retreat Center close to 2:00 am. Surprisingly, neither of us got sleepy. We only had 11 guests and it was lights out time right before we walked in at 10:02. Other than a few trips to the bathroom and outside smoking area, everything was quiet. Hubby and I read Kindles and Blip journals until our relief couple arrived at 3:00. As we left, I asked hubby if he could imagine sleepng outside on such a bitter cold and windy night. So thankful our county has this program. Wish more qualified. Of better still, wish we had more affordable housing. Hubby couldn’t fall asleep until 4:00, me even later. We got up at 6:00 and 9:00 respectively. He helped with breakfast until 11:30, grabbed us lunch at Ledo’s (since we have expiring bonus gift cards from Christmas) and came home to a dark house. Power went out right before he arrived. Earlier, I stopped by church and hubby made me a breakfast plate. I ate a little in the school parking lot. Brooklyn’s game started early so I went in with the first quarter almost over. Kim had written to tell me but I was driving. Brooklyn had her best game ever. We won 31-29; Brook scored at least 12 points. The other team scored most of their points when she was resting on the bench. We lost count of rebounds, steals and assists she had. A family from another team stopped her in the hall, complimenting her for “carrying the team”. It was fun to watch. My nephew, his fiancé, Mackenzie, Mancil and Madi were there to cheer her on. I came home, worked around the house and filled all the feeders. The power went off while I was outside. We ate lunch and went back to the base to shop for others who wanted in on our great deals. The power was restored but went out again as soon as we got home. We don’t need lights to nap. Dinner is made so we are finished working and just waiting for the snow storm. (Update: power back on). Wishing you a safe and productive week ahead. Thanks for stopping by. “Who are we as human beings if we ignore the suffering of others?” - Joyce Naren
