The Gate over the vineyards
Being in Burgundy without evoking wine would be a crime! Particularly if you are right in the middle of the grands crus area like I was. This is one of the most prestigious vineyard on earth.
But for a photographer, the question is always how to show it through a different angle, which avoids clichés?
This is truly hard to find sometimes.
Today's Blip was made in Clos de Vougeot, next to the Château. Clos de Vougeot was created by the Cistercian monks of the nearby Citeaux Abbey in the Middle Ages. Today, Château de Vougeot is the headquarters ofthe Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin . Clos de Vougeot wine is a world-famous brand like Vosne-Romanée or Chambertain.
But I chose this gate as an iconic symbol: the name, the vineyards and the village in the background. Some more, this particular vineyard is for white wine, a rarity in this very area where red wine is king.
I believe a photo tells a story. I hope I was successful on this Blip even though the picture in itself has nothing outstanding.
