A big blow James, now 10

We spent the morning sorting out what we’d need in the van for our trip up north tomorrow and then dashing down the path between showers to pack.

After lunch we went to Silverlink to get James a football for his birthday as his present (a cushion shaped like a burger) hadn’t arrived. We took the opportunity to get a few essentials in a giant M&S next door.

James didn’t go to hockey club after school as he wanted to come straight home to tell us about his birthday. He was really happy with a book #3 daughter got him. (Last year he cried when his mum gave him a book as he couldn’t read it). It’s a graphic novel and his mum says he reads other books by the same writer every night. His reading is coming on at last and so far he’s really happy at middle school.

Thomas told me a bit about his London trip and #2 daughter and I went to pick up the Indian food for his birthday tea. I was pleased he decided on Indian and not Chinese which can be gloopy and tasteless.

Here he is with Thomas blowing out his candles while we sing Happy Birthday.

We are now en route home, hoping to see the aurora which everyone is posting on WhatsApp.
