Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

That's my girls!

Church this morning after which I took for members of our Vestry to see the Rectory. We've a lot of work ahead of us and I wanted them to have a look.
I hurried back home as Ali had dropped the girls off at 11. 30 with Colin so he had been had been looking after them on his own. Their parents were off to a wedding.
The house looked like a tornado had hit it but they were happy and having fun. They are very at home here and hardly notice when their parents disappear. We had lunch then I settled them for their afternoon nap and went to catch up on some sleep myself.
I woke just before they did. All was happy though and they had fun playing this afternoon. Bonnie tipped her crate of toys out and had a great time exploring them. She's very confident and has excellent sitting balance. Just occasionally she leans forward a bit too far and does a spectacular face plant!
Josie had her animals box out. She was in the process of sorting them out into either zoo or farm animals. I was impressed.
She's just moved out of her cot into a toddler bed at home and we wondered if she might be difficult about being in a cot here. Not a bit of it she was sitting surrounded by books and toys in her cot and talking to herself about how the sides of the cot didn't come off at Grandma's! I could hear her through the monitor.
All went well and they went off to bed beautifully. I was happy to hand over responsibility to their mum when she got back later on. It's nice to know that I don't have to get up if they wake through the night. I'll be off to swimming with Josie first thing in the morning.
I had just gone to bed when I got a message from Kathryn to say that Isobel had cooked macaroni cheese for their tea and she'd made an extra dish as she wanted me to have some. This family meal sharing is growing arms and legs. Katy says it was delicious so I'll pick it up tomorrow.
Another week and another month. I can't believe we are already at October!
