Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Weather or not?

I've had a nice day today.
A lazy start - my current routine is kettle on, feed the cats, feed the indoor fish, feed the outdoor fish, pick the beans and gather the windfalls(all in my nightie and slippers so long as it is not raining as we're lucky enough not to be overlooked). Then, coffee in hand, back to bed to check blip and do Wordle etc. I move slickly from there into the Telegraph puzzle website, Panagram, plusword, quick crossword and Kakuro. I was lucky enough to pick up a year's subscription to the puzzle pages for £1 and I'm making good use of it. Once the brain was thoroughly awake, its out to pick up the rest of the windfalls.
This morning I headed out to the local library's MacMillan coffee morning, displaced into the Bowling club as the library is currently closed. I got my timing wrong and made it by the skin of my teeth. The scones were not good ;-)
Next down to M&S to return some trousers I bought yesterday. While there I heard some nice music and on exploring discovered a lone musician playing outside the restaurant with a bucket collecting for Macmillan. (Extra) I was chatting to him and got permission for my blip. He told me he used to play for the same event for M&S at the Gyle as the restaurant manager was a friend of his. He hasn't done it since lockdown though and was thoroughly enjoying being at Craigleith. I enjoyed listening to him and contributed, but didn't have another scone.
Ali and Josie came round this afternoon and we had fun playing with the little one, her conversation skills are really coming on. She enjoyed a pear from the garden as an afternoon snack . I've been busy baking for mum in law this evening as Colin is going up tomorrow, oatcakes and a chocolate tiffin type thing which she likes .
I'm not going as I'm on Isobel duty, I'm hoping I will also have time to pop into Blackhall Primary school fair with her and say hi to blipper Nadinepierce who I told about the fair and is going to be there. 11am - 2pm if you are in the area. I feel very responsible for bringing her all the way over here and may have to buy her entire stock if she is not busy! Still it's a nice drive from NMB to EH4.
My blio is a shot of the sky as Ali was leaving. There's been no rain today and we spotted this vertical rainbow over the city. I believe it may be called a Sundog or a Mendonoma.
Plenty of spires and cranes to be seen but no giant poo hotel fortunately from this angle, Half a mile into town though the angle changes and it's in full view though, still that was Tuesday's rant if you want to read it!
It's the end of the month again, so here is the link for the National Galleries' art quiz, 8/10 for me today. This month's quiz theme is the contents of the new Scottish Gallery which opens tomorrow. Good luck, here is the link
