Mpox

In Africa I am seeing some ripples of panic about Mpox (the rebranded version of monkeypox) as the next Covid pandemic. People seem more bothered than I knew them to be during the height of the Covid era, possibly because the symptoms are more physically obvious. Images from Congo are quite arresting, but there are rumours of Mpox vaccination stations springing up at airports. I don’t know whether this is true, but it would be handy. And I don’t know which year this poster about African Vaccination Week refers to, but I saw it on a wall in Lichinga.
