Samora

Although I haven’t done a thorough assessment, it could be that all Mozambican provincial capitals have a statue of Samora Machel, the country’s first President after independence, in their centre.

This is the case in the park situated in the middle of Lichinga’s very large central roundabout. It won’t win any design awards but it was a nice place to sit for a while in the sun, interrupted only by cheery greetings and the occasional nut seller.
