Diary of an Edinburgher

Scone break

Well, a phone call from the physio person (she wasn’t a physiotherapist) about the shoulder xray results. I said I knew, the doctor told me it was osteoarthritis. She said No! It’s not. She gave some explanation about a ball and socket, and it’s FIXABLE! So she’ll refer me to the physio proper. Good news indeed.

Archie and I were sitting outside in the sunshine, me with a sunhat and sunglasses on (me) of course, when Christine came to the gate bearing gifts for the invalid - sunflowers, fresh peas (from Waitrose) and a packet of Licorice Allsorts. The peas were very edible, but not as sweet as our local ones of course, which are SO fresh. Archie and I enjoyed most of them out in the sun.

Then we set off to walk down to the bank where we discovered a vast fortune small windfall. The new bank account card had arrived, so I could close the unknown account at the unfamiliar bank. I was given a cheque. Haven’t had one of them for a very long time. JR hot-footed it into town to our actual bank to deposit it.

We all stopped for a coffee in Morningside before I got the bus home. They have the biggest scones in town. So big that we shared one.

I’m pleased the athletics have started. The Gold Medal badminton game was also on. China v Korea. What a game! It bore NO resemblance to the badminton I used to enjoy in my heyday in the late 70s (got to B grade briefly in my club in Auckland).

Watching judo at the.mo. What a strange sport that is!
