Crummock Water from Rannerdale

A simply splendid day in the Lakes. Dry, sunny and warm. Three fells ticked off and a well earned pint of Loweswater Gold at the Glaramara Hotel in Seatoller at the end.

First stop was at Newlands Hause on the narrow, very scenic road from Keswick to Buttermere where we tackled Knott Rigg and Ard Crags.

A short drive took us down into Buttermere where we were hoping for a coffee. The place was heaving so we opted to drive along Crummock Water and bag Rannerdale Knotts. A steep ascent from the road was rewarded by excellent views all round and lunch on the summit.

Having sat in the car for a while my legs were unwilling to accept we were going up again. It took them quite a while to realise what was required of them.

The extra is coming down off Knott Rigg back to the carpark at Newlands Hause which can just be seen in the distance.

Thank you for visiting the journal while we’re away. There isn’t much time to reciprocate this week.
