Dolly's Day

BUSY DAY

We were all up early this morning.  Becky and Mike set off around 8am to go to Kingston Park for the half marathon.  As it was raining I stayed at home with Astrid.  She played with lots of toys, watched Peppa Pig, Paddington Bear and Thomas The Tank Engine on TV and she played some games on her tablet. The time passed quickly as we had lots of fun. The two smaller photos in my collage were taken by Astrid - most of her shots were blurry but we got a few good ones.

When Becky and Mike arrived home they both had a nice hot bath and a rest.  They enjoyed the run  even though it rained all the time. Mikes time was 1hr 32 mins and Beckys  was 1 hr 40 mins. We all chilled out for a while until a taxi arrived at 2.45pm to take us to Neil and Rachaels house for a family BBQ.

It was a chance for Becky and Mike to see their house for the first time since they moved there earlier this year.  Even though it was raining Neil was able to cook the food outdoors as they have a covered BBQ area and a lovely big gas BBQ.  So Neil was outdoors " cooking up a storm " while the rest of us stayed dry indoors.   Around 4.30pmish my brother John and sister in law Virginia arrived to join the gathering. John had been playing golf in Hexham until around 4pm. They haven't seen Becky and Mike for over 20 years so it was a good chance for us all to get together.  Astrid was the star of the show of course. Luna came a close second.

At 6pm our taxi arrived to take us back home.  We wanted to get home in good time to get Astrid in bed and settled before the football match started.   Fortunately she settled fairly quickly and Becky was able to watch all of the match with Mike and me.  It was a shame England didn't win.

I haven't had a chance to do many comments but I'm hoping to catch up in the next few days.
