James and Nathaniel at the ceilidh

We had a lovely evening last night with the children
entertaining us with dances they devised.

Today #2 daughter brought the boys up in time for us all to go to the village hall for the morning Final Fling ceilidh after the traditional music festival. Mr C volunteered to stay at home with Sandy the dog. There’s a surprise. Not!

It was lots of fun and everyone danced. We caught up with some old friends who had not seen the daughters since they lived here when small children.

Mr C was under instruction to put the lasagnes into the oven so that lunch was ready for the hungry dancers. Later we had the cake that they like to have as it woukd have been my eldest daughter’s 53rd birthday. It’s heartbreaking that she never met them or indeed #2’s husband. (She did know Luke as he and #3 daughter must have been together over 20 years).

The children had England flags painted on their faces for the Euros final tonight. I don’t like to think what my (Scottish) dad would have said! Come on Engerland!!
