On the arch
Thank you for the hearts, stars and kind words for yesterday’s blip.
This morning I went to the U3A talk, this month on Lutyens at the castle at Holy Island. The NT expert was very interesting, showing us slides of early drawings and giving an insight into the renovations done fairly recently. The detective work done to find information about Lutyens and his work on the castle was fascinating. I was interested that he referred to the island as Holy Island, which we did from childhood, whereas more and more people, especially those moving in to the area, refer to it as Lindisfarne.
In the afternoon it was actually sunny. Well, partially sunny which gave me the chance to have lunch out of doors for the first time this year after which I read a book Ailie loaned me, “Caledonian Road” by Andrew O’Hagan. It’s a hard back of around 700 pages, most conversations. There’s a long list of characters. She loved it but I’m not sure.
The children weren’t too disappointed about the football result - I think it was worse when the women lost in the final.
