Bricking it

A trip along to Granton Beach - the one to the west of the harbour. Well, RBGE’s expensive and lovely information sign from the Shoreline Project called it Granton Beach. More commonly known as the brick beach on account of the number of bricks on it. We were down there scouting and filching a few. They’re probably now listed artefacts.
Over to the boat to check things out and blether. The Milly M boys are back with their new (ahem) boat, getting the riot act read to them. Needless to say it’s already got a leak they can’t get to the bottom of. I do manage to finally speak on the phone to AB who has walked away from the wreck of a boat he bought a couple of years back, leaving us with the disposal costs which are sizeable. 
I’d like to just here record what my input was to the committee when he applied to join because it boils my piss.

Membership Sec: Hi all, yes, I agree with xx (Commodore), I interviewed AB yesterday and he does come over as a chap prepared to get his hands dirty for the benefit of the club. His work as a property developer means he has a number of contacts in various trades he could " lend" us. I believe he has already purchased (boat) sight unseen and it would be his wish to work on her in the yard over the winter. He has no sailing experience but is keen to learn.

As I replied: 
C’mon, tell the truth. Anyone with no sailing experience who buys a boat unseen needs their head examined! 
It’ll be left in the yard when his enthusiasm wanes…. 

Everyone else supported his application, so I added: 
I have major misgivings - I don’t think that generally we should be welcoming non members to come along and say they’d like to put a wreck in our yard for an unspecified period of time.


Of course, now we have a wreck. Was it that hard to predict? Maybe I’m uncommonly perspicacious? Or just not utterly utterly stupid.
