California Here I Come
... is the song that came to mind when I opened the curtains to this sight this morning :-) Self sown Californian Poppies, Eschscholzia californica with a few Brodiaea californica, blue, poking through. The Brodieaea has featured here a few times over the years, including in the Norwich garden. I raised some bulbs from wild collected seed about thirty years , these are second or third generation offspring.
It's Ruth's birthday, so what better way to celebrate than with a very short notice (decided 10pm last night) trip to meet her part way, in Telford. She was coming here on Wednesday for a week's break anyway ... too complicated to explain quite why we brought it forward. Her Mum is in the area too having visited Jamie and Clara for a day. She's been able to stay on thanks to my good friend Sue, so she and Ruth can have a day together tomorrow. We all met Jamie and Clara at the seafront on a damp evening for (cheese)cake to celebrate. Extra pic :-)
