A rose...after a long day

Nine hours of work today! And we were short about 10 pieces of sod. A said he would pick up the sod tomorrow and go over to do it since he has to come in to mow a lawn anyways. Both A and I were getting frustrated today, the students just were not paying attention. I tried to show them how to skim off the top layer of grass, but they were still taking 6 inches of soil with it, instead of 2 inches. It was 3 truckloads of sod, a total of 2300 kg in weight that we hauled away. It should have been about 1700 kg.
They have been told several times not to stand on the soil or mulch when shoveling it into the wheelbarrows, but they keep doing it. Then it is harder to cleanup because it is ground into the pavement.
The soil didn't arrive till almost noon today. The guy who said he could deliver it didn't get the gravel off his trailer last night, so he had to go to Halifax to get the trailer, then back to Dartmouth. And he had to stop and change his clothes in that time too. He was going to charge me $125 for the delivery. I told him that Mabou was only charging $60 for the delivery, so he brought it down to $75. He said his rates start at $125 within Dartmouth. I told him that the other company I deal with comes from Hammonds Plains and they charge me $150 - $175 for deliveries in Dartmouth. It is at least a 30 minute drive for them.
At least the sod delivery was on time, I think that was the only thing that went right today.
I missed my Friday evening out with my camera tonight because we worked late. It was after 6:30 by the time I ate my supper, which is late for me.
At least the heat and humidity is not as bad tonight. The temperature was around 26 C this afternoon, it has cooled off to 20 C now, at almost 9:30 pm.
