Siblings

Today was the reunion. We all seemed to migrate to the back porch when we got up. The porch has a gas fire pit in the middle that provided just enough heat. We told stories all morning and realized how folks’ life experiences can be so similar. I caught hubby’s sisters in their pjs but we’re all family so they agreed to let me take this pic for my blip. The store where I took yesterday’s blip had some cute statuary. We stopped by again and got a perfect piece for hubby, a gnome riding a four-wheeler. Just wish there had been two. When we got to the rescue squad building to help set up, we realized we’d left our cheesecake at the house. Off to the grocery store we went. The group was considerably smaller this year. The man who has organized the reunion for years passed away at the end of May. There were only around 35 participants and our family was a party of 10. Kind of sad to know so many have passed. The younger generation doesn’t seem to see the value of getting together once a year. This could very easily be the last Sims reunion. We vowed to continue the tradition even if it is just hubby and his siblings’ families who get together. We’re back at the house telling more fun childhood stories and relaxing. We’ll leave sometime tomorrow after Mass. Everyone else will stay until Monday. We are hoping hubby’s sons will be available so we can take them and maybe the grands to lunch on our way back to Virginia. We were very disappointed they were unable to join us here. But they all have jobs with weekend work hours. Hope you had some time to relax this weekend. Stay safe. It’s been a bit hard to read your journals and not be rude. Thanks for stopping by.
