More Family Time

We were up at 5:30 so we could shower, pack, eat breakfast and fill the vehicle. Our eight housemates were all still sleeping. Hubby had to load the car in the pouring rain. We got back to town in time to fill the gas tank before Mass. I wanted to share the new (to us) church with you but the parishioners hung around in the sanctuary after Mass and my photos weren’t great. It is a fairly new but quite simple country church. At least 50% of the congregation was Hispanic and they played and sang beautiful hymns in Spanish. The rain had stopped when we left. We chose a slightly different route on the way back. It was overcast but did not start raining again until after dinner. Kim let us know that Brooklyn’s soccer team lost during the semi-finals due to penalty kicks that went over Brooklyn’s head into the goal. This is her last tournament of the season. Mackenzie’s party went well. I am glad we were already committed to the reunion. It would have been difficult to decide which of their events to attend. We stopped in the town where Mike lives and made final arrangements for dinner with him and Bob. He had to work until 4:00 rather than 2:00 so our plans were pushed back two hours. We enjoyed a chat with Bob, getting updates on Riley and Jillian (who were also working), while we waited. We went to our usual BBQ place and everyone was completely satisfied with their dinner. They look forward to our visits and having Buddy’s as our special spot for being together, making memories even though the time is short. We’ll be back in October. Unfortunately, we still have more than two hours to drive before getting to our hotel for the night. The rain is light now but steady. With the sun behind us, we’ve enjoyed a gorgeous rainbow as we travel north. Today’s trip will be a total of 350 miles. Hubby will be happy to get some rest when we get to Wytheville. I hope you found time to rest this weekend. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. I wanted to look at more of your journals but dozed every time I opened Blip. Sorry. “The greatest legacy we can leave our children is happy memories.” — Og Mandino
