Sassafras Mountain

Monday
We awoke this morning to the sound of rain drumming on the camper roof. Roger still wasn’t feeling great, so we had a slow start. It eventually stopped around 11am, and the clouds began to break up so we set out to do some exploring. Our first destination was Sassafras Mountain which, at 3,553 feet, is the highest point in South Carolina, but as you can see, it sits on the border with North Carolina. The Observation tower is relatively new, opening in 2019, and offers spectacular views all around of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and of three states, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
From there we returned to the waterfall area we visited last evening, and visited the other two waterfalls, Triple Falls, and High Falls. (See extra)
