The heavy rain of the last two days has caused the Esk at Musselburgh to rise above its normal level. According to the SEPA river level website this morning the river was about a metre lower than at the peak last night and since then the levels have gone down further. Debris on the grass mark the extant that the river reached but fortunately the nearby houses were safe. Meanwhile early this afternoon it was still impossible to use the footpath below the bridge and trees that have been washed down are stuck under the bridges,
