There are many fields of yellow and various greens locally but today was the first time I had seen a red field. Although red campion is a very attractive plant in woods and hedges and I like it in my garden, it is very invasive so seems strange to be deliberately planted in a field unlike blue phacelia which is planted to attract pollinators and ploughed in as green manure. On a list of many plants used as green manure there is no reference to red campion. This field did have blue lacy phacelia several years ago but I can’t find my blip of that time. The yellow field was taken yesterday not far from the cows.
