Pleach

Pink thrift flowers overlooking Aberlady Bay at low tide.   The nature reserve is very wet with large stretches of water which prevented us from taking our usual path so we had to take the main route to the large sand dune.  In summer it is a place of many butterflies but perhaps some of their habitats are under water as there were no butterflies.  I counted 48 different flowers and include a few in the collage. Yellow iris, spring beauty, cowslip, woody nightshade, northern marsh orchid, purple milk vetch and hound’s tongue. and an extra of a mixture of sedge, germander speedwell and stitchwort.

On the way home we stopped at Waterston House to see the latest exhibition of work by three artists using unusual approaches and techniques to portray birds and animals.  One artist uses ripped up paper to make collages, another uses stencils and prints while the other uses bits of recycled or discarded tins and fabrics.
