4L
Couldn't sleep last night. Was awake at 4.30am and finally got up at 5. I had some breakfast and went out for a long walk in the chill morning air. It was beautiful. Clear blue sky, big moon still hanging up there, sun slanting at that early angle, sending long sharp shadows across the road and through the walnut orchards. It took my mind off everything that was troubling me - things that could wait until later in the day. I followed a narrow road through the trees and past some derelict stone barns. This old Renault 4L leaned at an angle on the grass verge under the shade of a tree. You used to see them everywhere, along with the ubiquitous 2CV. Now they are very rare. This one had been restored. And somehow it restored my faith in the (temporary) permanence of things. I do love it here.
